DUSHANBE, September 26, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan’s puppet theatre Lukhtak (Puppet) will participate in the 4th International Festival of Puppet Theatres in Moscow.

It is the first time that the Tajik puppet theatre will participate in this festival dedicated to Sergey Obraztsov, the outstanding figure of the Russian and world theatrical art.  The festival is kicked off on October 3 and runs through October 12.  

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Zafar Javodov, a chief stage director of Lukhtak, said that a group comprising six puppeteers and led by the theatre director Kenja Ibrohimov will participate in the festival.

24 puppet theatres, including 14 Russian puppet theatres, will take part in the festival.  The puppet theatres from Belgium, Israel, Spain, Italy, Poland, Portugal, France and some other countries will participate in the festival.

“It will be the second our guest performance this year,” said Javodov, “At the beginning of this year, Lukhtak attended the international festival of puppet theatres, Arusak, in Iran.”  

Established in 1985, the Tajik puppet theatre Lukhtak, having seven puppeteers, has made tours of Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Mongolia, Czechoslovakia, France, Pakistan, Iran, Russia and other countries.
