University teachers and professional media trainers from Central Asian countries are invited to apply for a five-day workshop to develop a course on a specific topic or skill in journalism or media. The workshop, sponsored by the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and UNESCO”s International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC), will be held at Kazakhstan Institute of Management, Economics and Strategic Research (KIMEP, Almaty, Kazakhstan) on February 12-18, 2009.

This is an advanced workshop, designed for participants with experience in teaching or training who need to develop, test and refine courses and curricula. It is open to university teachers (on journalism and media faculties), trainers working for television, radio, newspapers, magazines and online media, and trainers working for journalism and media NGOs. Participants will be selected from all Central Asian republics on a competitive basis. The workshop will be led by Dr. David Mould, Associate Dean and Professor of Media Arts & Studies at Ohio University (U.S.A.). Dr. Mould has over 12 years experience in international journalism and media training and consulting, mostly in Asia. He has worked in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and was a Fulbright Senior Scholar in Journalism and Mass Communication in Kyrgyzstan in 1996-1997. He has also worked in India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia and Mongolia. The language of instruction will be Russian and/or English.
