DUSHANBE, September 25, 2008, Asia-Plus — The Committee for Family and Women’s Affairs has announced a request for proposals under the Grants of the President of Tajikistan Program.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Ms. Marifat Shokirova, head of the department for gender development and international ties within the Committee for Family and Women’s Affairs, said that the purpose of the program is in awarding small grants for specific projects that support the development of female entrepreneurship in the country. According to her, the program is funded by the president and is implemented by the committee.
The grants will be awarded to Tajik female entrepreneurs for the projects whose purpose is to promote solution of problems facing female entrepreneurship and creation of new jobs for women.
Shokirova noted that the committee plans to award ten grants of 40,000 somoni each, 10 grants of 30,000 somoni and 10 grants of 15,000 somoni. The term of implementation of the projects should not exceed six months.
