DUSHANBE, September 12, 2013, Asia-Plus – Haji Akbar Tourajanzadeh, a well-known Tajik religious and political actor, said in an interview to Asia-Plus that Tajikistan’s current realities are such that the Union of Reformist Forces decided to nominate a well-known Tajik lawyer and human rights defender, Aynihal Babanazarova, for president.

Mr. Tourajanzadeh said: “Ms. Babanazarova’s chances for victory firstly depend on the country’s people. Let me explain, if the people of Tajikistan really want changes in their country, in their life, then they will support the opposition candidate. An important point will be if the presidential candidate herself and her election campaign will be able to convince the people in their program, manner of Ms. Babanazarova’s campaign headquarters work, and how will she be able to bring to the electorate her objectives and plan of action.”

He further pointed out that according to the preliminary agreement, all the members of the working group to create the Union of Reformist Forces must be in the team of the single opposition candidate’s confidants.

Mr. Tourajanzadeh said: “Due to this, I, as a member of the working group to create the Union of Reformist Forces, am ready to be a confidant of presidential candidate, Aynihal Babanazarova.”
