DUSHANBE, September 27, 2013, Asia-Plus — On Thursday September 26, President Emomali Rahmon visited Jirgatol and Nourobod districts as part of his working trip to the Rasht Valley (eastern Tajikistan).
While in Jirgatol, the president visited an exhibition of farm produce, according to the Tajik president’s official website. Rahmon reportedly called on local farmers to produce 100,000 of potatoes this year.
He also got acquainted with the potato-harvesting campaign in the Jirgatol Farm and visited the lyceum for gifted children in the Jirgatol administrative center.
During an address to a meeting of regional administrators of Jirgatol, President Rahmon noted that Tajikistan has produced more than one million ton of potatoes this year and within the next three years the annual potato production will reach 1.5 million tons.
Thursday afternoon, the president visited the Nourobod district. In Nourobod, the head of state reportedly got acquainted with achievements of local gardeners, bee keepers and potato growers.
He also attended an official ceremony of opening of a new building of School # 45 in the Nourobod administrative district. 7.6 million somoni have reportedly been spent for construction of this school.
