DUSHANBE, October 1, 2013, Asia-Plus – A number of international organizations have expressed wish to send their election observers to Tajikistan.
The head of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER), Shemuhammad Shohiyon, stated this at a press conference in Dushanbe on September 30.
“Observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) will arrive in Tajikistan in the near future and one group of observers from the CIS Executive Committee, led by the first deputy secretary general of the Committee, is expected to arrive in Tajikistan on October 10,” Shohiyon noted.
The 2013 presidential election in Tajikistan is scheduled for November 6 and to-date, six political parties have nominated their candidates for president. The ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is expected to nominate its presidential candidate at a congress that will take place on October 6.
