KONIBODOM, August 25, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Not all young specialists, assigned to work with schools in Konibodom, have reported for work, the Konibodom education department head Nazirjon Bobojonov remarked at a teachers’ conference in Konibodom today.  

According to him, 38 young teachers have been assigned to work with school in Konibodom, however, only 28 of them have reported for work so far.  

“To provide schools with enough teachers we have concluded labor contracts with 118 pensioners,” said Bobojonov, “Besides, under agreement with Khujand State University, 30 young teachers from Konibodom have entered University’s correspondence department and 14 our school leavers have entered teachers’ training institutes by presidential quota.”    

Bobojonov noted that parents of 12,000 schoolchildren are currently outside the country seeking better employment opportunities and more than 3,000 local schoolchildren are now under care of their grandparents and distant relatives that weakens control over their studies.  

 The education department head also noted that associations of parents’ committee had provided considerable assistance with renovating schools.  “They have allocated more than 293,000 somonis for these purposes,” said Bobojonov, “We jointly with local administration, international organizations and parents have constructed additional 16 classes.”  

He noted that of 63 schools functioning in Konibodom, 35 need major repairs and 11 others are now in a very poor state.
