Two killed in rockfall in northern Tajikistan

 KHUJAND, August 22, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Two residents of Sughd’s Ayni district were killed Tuesday early in the morning as a car UAZ-469 (Russian jeep) fell into a 300-meter precipice after rockfall crashed into it, according to the Sughd police directorate.  

The incident took place in the area of Gushtan, the 155th kilometer of the Khujand-Dushanbe highway, on August 20 at around 3:00 a.m.  The driver, Zarif Zarifov, and his passenger, Mizrob Zarifov, died at the scene of accident, the source said.
