KHUJAND, January 6, 2014, Asia-Plus — Head of one of farming units located in northern Sughd province has reportedly been detained for giving bribe to an anticorruption officer.
According to the anticorruption agency’s office in Sughd province, Sh.B., head of one of dehqon (peasant) farms, located in the Jabborrasoulov district, was detained on Sunday for an attempt to give bribe to a state official.
“Sh.B. was arrested red-handed on January 5 while giving a US$3,000 bribe to the anticorruption officer,” the source said.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Sh.B. under the provisions of Article 320 (1) – Tajikistan’s Penal Code – giving a bribe, personally or through a proxy, to a state official; an investigation is under way.
