DUSHANBE, January 20, 2014, Asia-Plus – On January 17, Tajikistan received the last notification from the Russian Federation that internal procedures on the entry into force of a government-to-government agreement between Russian and Tajikistan on the rules of stay of Tajik nationals in Russia had completed and the agreement takes effect beginning on January 17, according to the Tajik MFA information department.
This agreement was signed in Moscow on February 8, 2013 on the basis of the memorandum of intent on easing some of the registration restrictions for Tajik migrant workers coming to Russia that was signed in Dushanbe on October 5, 2012.
The Agreement on the Procedure of Stay of Tajik Nationals in Russia is designed to create favorable conditions for Tajik nationals’ stay in the Russian Federation. The Agreement, in particular, provides for extending the period for registration for Tajik nationals on their arrival in Russia from seven to fifteen days.
Also, it reportedly addresses the fundamental rights and liberties of an individual and a citizen.
