DUSHANBE, January 24, 2014, Asia-Plus — The Ministry of Agriculture of Tajikistan expresses concern about the closure of border crossing points (BCPs) on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border, Minister of Agriculture Qosim Qosimov told journalists in Dushanbe on January 24.

“Practically all inventories (agricultural machines and mineral fertilizers) for Tajikistan’s agrarian sector are delivered to the country via Kyrgyz territory, and therefore, we hope that the issue of opening of the BCPs on the Kyrgyz border will be solved soon,” Qosimov said.

According to him, the closure of BCPs on the Kyrgyz border may affect planting of some agricultural crops in Tajikistan.

We will recall that Kyrgyzstan closed all five BCPs on its common border with Tajikistan in mid-January following a January 11 clash between Tajik and Kyrgyz border guards.
