KHUJAND, January 30, Asia-Plus — Sughd electricity debts have reached 260,300 somoni, Abduvali Rasoulov, the head of Barqi Tojik’s office in Sughd, told journalists in Khujand on January 30.

“The most incorrigible nonpayers are water pumping plants that now owe 150 million to Barqi Tojik (the state-owned utility responsible for generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity in Tajikistan),” Rasoulov noted.

According to him, residential customers owe 70.7 million somoni, agrarian sector – 17.4 million somoni, non-industrial group – 16.6 million somoni, industrial enterprises – 8 million somoni, and federally funded institutions – 5.6 million somoni.
