DUSHANBE, February 3, 2014, Asia-Plus — Tajik emergency authorities have advised people to refrain from unnecessary travels to mountain areas.
Orif Nozimov, a spokesman for the Committee on Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (CES), says all regional and district emergency management agencies have been put on alert because of recent heavy snowfalls.
“The Committee on Emergency Situations advises residents and guests of the country to refrain from unnecessary travels to mountain areas as the risk of avalanches is high,” Nozimov said.
According to the forecast of the Tajik Hydrometeorology Center, cold weather will hold on in the country till February 5.
