DUSHANBE, February 26, 2014, Asia-Plus — The volume of loans provided by Tajik banks rose 39.6 percent in a year to January 31, 2014, reaching 7,670,794,000 somoni, according to the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT).
Of this amount, 132.9 million somoni were provided by Tajik central bank and the remaining 7.5 billion somoni were provided by the country’s lending organizations.
Loan provided in the national currency, the somoni, reportedly amounted to 3.1 billion somoni and loan provided in foreign currencies amounted to 4.5 billion somoni
Last month, the weighted average interest rate for loans provided in the national currency was 25.68 percent and the weighted average interest rate for loans provided in foreign currencies was 25.76 percent.
The volume of small loans reportedly rose 39.7 percent in a year to January 31, 2014. Over the report period, 88.3 million somoni of small loans were provided to economic entities in the remote mountain areas (40.4 percent increase).
According to Tajik central bank, 143 credit organizations, including 16 banks, 37 microloan deposit organizations, 44 microloan organizations and 46 microloan funds now function in Tajikistan.
