DUSHANBE, February 26, 2014, Asia-Plus — As of January 31 2014, bank deposits amounted to 5.639.7 billion somoni, the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) reports. 

Deposits kept in the national currency, the somoni, reportedly amount to 1.7205 billion somoni and deposits kept in foreign currencies amount to 3.9192 billion somoni.  

According to data of Tajik central bank, individual deposits have reached 3.6945 billion somoni (65.5 percent) and corporate deposits have reached1.9452 billion somoni (34.5 percent).

Local currency deposits reportedly carry a weighted average interest rate of 15.92 percent at the moment versus 12.6 percent for foreign currencies.  (1.1 percent decrease when compared to 2012).
