Air fares have reportedly risen 86.7 percent in Tajikistan since the beginning of the year

DUSHANBE, March 17, 2014, Asia-Plus – The Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan reports that over the first two months of this year prices and rates for services rendered to the population have increased by 7.1 percent.

The ones that increased most significantly were:  airline tickets – 86.7 percent; hairdressing and barbering services – 8.1 percent; tickets for rail travel – 7.1 percent;  shoe repair service – 6.6 percent, garbage disposal – 2.4 percent; etc.

Prices set by producers in the food industry have risen over the report period only 0.2 percent.

In January-February, the prices of foodstuffs have also increased, including a 40-percent rise in prices for cabbages, onions — 30 percent; carrots – 10 percent, potatoes — 5.5 percent; apples – 3.4 percent; mutton – 1.2 percent; rice and beef – 0.5 percent each.

Meanwhile, prices for eggs, sugar, first grade wheat flour and milk have decreased by 9.0, 4.2, 4.0 and 1.5 percent respectively.

Non-foodstuff price index has reportedly remained unchanged over the report period, including inconsiderable rise in prices for some goods and a 9-percent fall in fuel prices.

According to the Agency for Statistics, inflation for the first two months of this year has stood at 1.3 percent.
