In Tajikistan, the lowest wage reported in agrarian sector and forestry

DUSHANBE, March 18, 2014, Asia-Plus – Compared to December 2013, the real wage rate in January 2014 declined 12 percent, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

The term ‘real wages’ refers to wages that have been adjusted for inflation, or, equivalently, wages in terms of the amount of goods and services that can be bought.  This term is used in contrast to nominal wages or unadjusted wages.

Meanwhile, an average monthly nominal wage of employed persons amounted to nearly 815.00 somoni in January 2014.  The minimum wage amounted to 250.00 somoni.

The lowest average wage was reported in the agrarian sector and forestry – 248.00 somoni, and the highest average wage was reported in the mining sector – 1,926.00 somoni.

In January 2014, an average monthly wage in the real sector of the economy amounted to 807.00 somoni, which was 20 percent more than in January 2013.

In the service sector, employees of financial intermediation institutions have the highest average wage – 1,688.00 somoni.

In January this year, an average monthly wage in the service sector amounted to 817.00 somoni, which was 19 percent more than in January 2013.
