Tajik, Russian defense ministers to discuss military and technical cooperation between their countri

DUSHANBE, April 1, 2014, Asia-Plus – Tajik Minister of Defense Sherali Mirzo is expected to meet with his Russian counterpart Sergey Shoigu today on the sidelines of a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Defense Ministers that opened in the Tajik northern city of Qairoqqum today.

Sergey Shoigu heading a Russian delegation arrived in Dushanbe Monday evening to participate in the SCO defense ministers’ meeting.

Faridoun Mahmadaliyev, a spokesman for the Ministry of Defense of Tajikistan (MoD), says Tajik and Russian defense ministers will discuss a number of issues related to military and technical cooperation between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation, training of personnel for the Tajik national army at Russian military schools, exchange of information, SCO anti-terrorism exercises, etc.
