Police seize over 3.7 kilos of mercury in Kulob and nearly 7 kilos of hashish in Khujand

DUSHANBE, August 6, 2014, Asia-Plus — The Interior Ministry’s website reports resident of the city of Kulob (Khatlon province) Abdusattor Mirzoyev, 31, was detained on August 3 on suspicion of having been involved in trafficking in toxic agents.  Seventeen metallic boxes containing 3.757 kilograms of mercury were confiscate from him.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Mirzoyev and investigation is under way.

On August 5, officers from the Interior Ministry’s office in Khujand (Sughd province) detained local resident Ruslan Yashchenko, 36.  Several packages of narcotic drug that tested to positive to hashish weighing 6.91 kilograms were confiscated from him.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the alleged drug peddler and an investigation is under way.  Yashchenko reportedly has the previous conviction for illegal possession of weapons.
