DUSHANBE, October 17, 2014, Asia-Plus — Two top managers of the 7 Burj Company have got long jail terms.

A court in Dushanbe’s Sino district sentenced Olim Maroufov and Orif Rasoulov to 8 ½ years in prison each on October 15.  The sentence followed their conviction on the charge of fraud.

Under the ruling handed down by Judge Sulaymon Qosimov, Maroufov and Rasoulov are also barred from being engaged in entrepreneurship during four years after serving their jail terms.

Maroufov and Rasoulov maintain innocence.

According to the judge, Maroufov and Rasoulov were detained in April this year following complaints by 158 deceived customers of the company.

“In all, 7 Burj has more than 5,000 customers,” the judge said.

Limited Liability Company 7 Burj was registered on January 25, 2011.  The company was suspended on July 18, 2013 following an order by the Prosecutor-General’s Office.
