DUSHANBE, October 22, 2014, Asia-Plus — The upper houses of the parliaments of Tajikistan (Majlisi Milli) and Russia (Federation Council) are expected to sign a cooperation agreement.
The Federation Council’s press center reports that Valentina Matviyenko, Chairperson of the Federation Council, will meet Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, Chairman of the Majlisi Milli in Moscow on October 23.
The meeting is expected to result in signing of an agreement on cooperation between the upper houses of the parliaments of the two countries.
Meanwhile, Ubaidulloyev is holding talks with Moscow Oblast Governor Andrei Voroboyov today. The sides are discussing issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Moscow Oblast to enhance telecommunications, agrarian, educational and health sectors in Tajikistan.
Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev heading Tajik parliamentary delegation is currently in Moscow to participate in the 4th inter-parliamentary forum entitled “Tajikistan-Russia: Potential of Cooperation between the Countries’ Regions.”
While in Moscow, Ubaidulloyev will also hold bilateral the State Dushanbe (Russia’s lower chamber of parliament) Sergey Naryshkin, First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Igor Shuvalov, and Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin.
