DUSHANBE, November 20, 2014, Asia-Plus — As of November 14, 2014, Tajikistan’s gold and currency reserves amounted to 1.2 billion U.S. dollars (USD), according to the National bank of Tajikistan (NBT).

An official source at Tajik central bank says the country’s gold and currency reserves show sustainable upward trend.

“On average they increase 27-35 million USD per month,” said the source.  “Subject to the last changes, the average annual growth rate of the country’s gold and currency reserves is 10-12 percent.”

We will recall that in a report released at a news conference in Dushanbe, the NBT head Abdujabbor Shirinov noted on July 22 that Tajikistan’s gold and currency reserves rose 3 percent in a year to June 30, 2014, reaching 1.147 billion USD.  According to him, they intend to increase the gold and currency reserves by 15 percent by the end of this year.

As of December 31, 2013, Tajikistan’s gold and currency reserves were estimated at 1.0715 billion U.S. dollars, which was 10.2 percent more than in 2012.  Tajikistan’s gold and currency reserves in 2012 were estimated at 972 million USD, which was 170.4 million USD more than in 2011.
