DUSHANBE, June 26, Asia-Plus — Tajik government intends to set up an institution which would be engaged in formation and development of image of Tajikistan both inside the country and outside it, Mahmoudkhon Sarayev, a chief specialist with the information analysis department within President’s Executive Office, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, the institution will be established within the framework of the concept of information policy adopted on April 20, 2008.
Sarayev said that information component of that institution will work mainly through Internet resources. “We now have radio broadcasting to foreign countries and satellite broadcasts of Tajik television to other countries; however, Internet-resources are still used insufficiently to provide efficient coverage of external information space and we intend to fill in this gap,” Sarayev said.
This issue was discussed at the roundtable meeting hosted by the Independent School of Journalism “Tajikistan – 21st Century” on June 26,.
The meeting discussed issues related to establishment of an efficient cooperation between media and press services of state institutions on promptly providing the public with reliable socially significant information. The meeting was part of the “Access to Information: Cooperation and Transparency” project, which is implemented by the School under support of the Norwegian Helsinki Committee.
