DUSHANBE, June 23, 2008, Asia-Plus — Former field commanders in Gorno Badakhshan have begun handing over illegally possessed weapons to the GBAO police directorate.
The source at the GBAO police directorate said that they have handed over some 60 unit of weapons to the police directorate by Monday noon. In all, more than 300 illegally possessed weapons should be handed over to local police.
We will recall that campaign on handing over illegally possessed weapons to police resulted from a meeting of the Minister of Interiors Mahmadnazar Solehov with four former GBAO field commanders Imomnazar Imomnazarov, Yodgor Mamadaslamov, Tolib Ayombekov and Mamadboqir Mamadboqirov in Khorog on June 21.
