DUSHANBE, January 23, 2015, Asia-Plus — President Emomali Rahmon has ordered to recall operating licenses of domestic and foreign companies that were working ineffectively in the country.
His order came during an address to a joint meeting of both houses of the parliament that took place in Dushanbe on January 23.
Rahmon noted that 21 domestic and foreign companies were now engaged in exploring oil and gas fields in the country and operations of some of them were low-effective.
“Last year, Tajikistan produced more than 875,000 tons of coal, which was three times more than in 1990,” the president said.
He ordered eighteen domestic and foreign companies engaged in extracting coal in Tajikistan to produce a total of no less than one tons of coal this year.
More than one billion somoni was spent last year for bringing the country out of a transport deadlock and three billion somoni will be needed for these purposes in the coming three years, the president stressed.
He noted that works on repairing the Darvoz-Vanj road in the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) and the Khujand-Isfara road in the northern Sughd province would begin this year.
The president further added that three large cement plants would be introduced into operation in the country this year.
