DUSHANBE, February 16, 2015, Asia-Plus – The number of Tajik national traveling to the Russian Federation for seasonal work has reportedly reduced.
According to Russia’s Federal Migration Service (MFS), 984,323 Tajik nationals, including 805,917 men and 178,405 women, traveled to the Russian Federation for seasonal work last year, which is fewer than in 2013.
In 2013, more than 1.1 million Tajik nationals reportedly traveled to Russia for seasonal work.
The reduction in labor migration as compared to 2013 is due to amendments in the existing Russian Federation legislation on the activities of labor migrants from foreign countries.
Meanwhile, the Migration Service of the Ministry of Labor, Migration, and Employment of the Population of Tajikistan says more than 45,410 Tajik nationals, including 6,558 women, left the country for Russian last month seeking better employment opportunities.
