DUSHANBE, February 17, 2015, Asia-Pus — In January 2015, the 220 kW and 110 kW networks from Sangtuda-1 and Sangtuda-2 hydroelectric power plants reportedly transmitted nearly 55 million kWh of electricity to Afghanistan, 25 million kWh more than in the same period of the previous year.
In January 2014, Tajikistan supplied nearly 30 million kWh of electric power to neighboring Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, electricity rationing that was introduced in Tajikistan on October 1 and which resulted in the supply of daily electric power being reduced in rural areas to 10-12 hours is still in effect in the country.
Tajik President Emomali Rahmon on October 16 ordered to increase the supply of daily electrical power to residential customers in rural areas to 13 hours – six hours in the morning and seven hours in the evening.
