Almost 1.5 billion kWh of electricity generated in Tajikistan last year

DUSHANBE, February 19, 2015, Asia-Plus — According to the data Barqi Tojik (the state-owned utility responsible for generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity in Tajikistan), total electricity generation in January 2015 was almost 1.5 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh), or 48.1 million kWh per day.

Electricity generation in January reportedly increased by 4.6 percent compared to December 2014 and 5.1 percent compared to January 2014.

At the end of January 2015, the water level in the reservoir powering the Norak hydroelectric power plant (HPP) was 888.23 meters above sea level, which is 4.06 meters higher than in the same period of the previous year, and 31.23 meters above the “dead level” (inactive storage) (857 meters).
