KULOB, May 30, Asia-Plus — The Kulob public association, Zarshed, today organized an event dedicated to International Child Day, which is marked in Tajikistan on June 1, at local kindergarten # 3. Seven children with physical disabilities living near to the kindergarten have been invited to attend the event.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the Zarshed chairperson, Ms. Qalamnisso Abduqayumova, said that invitation of the disabled children to attend the event had not been accidental.
“We are currently developing a project, which has been supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in principle, for establishing special school and kindergarten for disabled children who cannot walk without assistance,” Ms. Abduqayumova said.
According to her, the Zarshed employees recently completed survey in the jamoats of Dahana and Ziraki in the Kulob district, where they registered 632 disabled children and teenagers aged 1 to 18.
“At present we are conducting survey in the city of Kulob and on completion of it we will begin to get down to the special school and kindergarten in real earnest,” Abduqayumova said, noting that today’s event is also part of the EBRD-sponsored project.
