DUSHANBE, April 13, 2015, Asia-Plus – Dushanbe and Seoul have signed five cooperation documents.
Two agreements and three memoranda of understanding were signed in Daegu, South Korea yesterday following talks of between Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Korean President Park Geun-hye, according to the Tajik president’s official website.
The sides reportedly signed a government-to-government agreement on air communication, a government–to-government agreement on economic, scientific and technical cooperation, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Ministry of Culture of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea, and a MoU on cooperation between the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs under the Government of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea.
On the same day, President Rahmon met in Daegu with Mr. Kim Young-mo, President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). They reportedly discussed issues related to trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and South Korea.
President Rahmon suggested during the meeting that KOICA should open its office in Dushanbe.
Mr. Kim Young-mo, for his part, noted that he would visit Tajikistan in the near future to study the cooperation prospects.
The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) was established in 1991 by the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade as a governmental organization for Official Development Assistance (ODA) to enhance the effectiveness of South Korea”s grant aid programs for developing countries by implementing the government”s grant aid and technical cooperation programs.
