DUSHANBE, April 13, 2015, Asia-Plus – On Monday April 12, Tajik President, who is on an official visit to South Korea, met with Tajik students studying at Korean universities.
According to the Tajik president’s official website, more than 60 Tajik students attended the meeting. In all, more than 100 Tajik students now study at higher educational institutions in South Korea.
During the meeting, Rahmon, in particular noted, that more than 30,000 Tajik students now study at foreign universities under support of the country’s government.
Tajik president reportedly said that South Korea would increase a student quota for Tajikistan in the near future.
The Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan and Korea Aviation University signed a cooperation agreement on the sidelines of the meeting and under this agreement Korea will train personnel for Tajikistan’s civil aviation, the source said.
The meeting was also attended by Tajik entrepreneurs working in South Korea. More than 40 entrepreneurs from Tajikistan now work in South Korea and the number of them is increasing, the website says.
Korea Aviation University was established as a national school on June 16, 1952 under the Charter for Transport School which was granted by the Ministry of Transportation(which is now Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs) in order to develop civil aviation industry. Although the university primarily started as a 2-year course school solely with three departments – Department of Flight Operation, Department of Aircraft Power, Department of Telecommunication Engineering – its status had been elevated by 1953. In 1979, the university was taken over by Jungseok Foundation, established by Hanjin Group, and it was transferred to a private university.
