Role of civil society in countering HIV/AIDS to be discussed in Dushanbe next week

The event is staged by the UNDP CO Tajikistan, Central Asia AIDS Control Project, Open Society Institute/Assistance Foundation –


Tajikistan


and POTENTIAL/USAID Project.

  








According to the

Republic


AIDS


Center

, the forum aims to promote strengthening of role of civil society in combating epidemic of HIV-infection in


Tajikistan


through combining civil society’s efforts and working out principles of intra-sectoral and inter-sectoral interaction.

  






The source at the AIDS Center said the forum participants will consider the current situation and review problems of civil society in combating HIV/AIDS epidemic as well as discuss issues related to participation of public associations in implementation of national programs and strategic plans and degree of influence of public associations on slowing down the pace of spread of HIV epidemic in the country.

  






The forum is expected to result in adoption of proposals on determining principles and ways of improvement of interaction between HIV-service organizations and government institutions.
