DUSHANBE, May 28, Asia-Plus  — On Tuesday May 27, Agriculture Minister Qosim Qosimov met here with Dr. John Cherry, an official with US Eastern Regional Research Center (ERRC) to discuss cooperation issues, according to the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).

The source at a MoA said that in the course of the talks, the two had discussed issues related to food security of Tajikistan and ways of further expansion of bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, it was noted that more than $5 million have been provided by ERRC for development of agricultural science in Tajikistan.  ERRC has promoted organization of 35 information centers connected to Internet at Tajikistan’s research institutes.

According to the MoA source, the ERRC delegation led by Dr. Cherry arrived in Tajikistan on May 20 and will stay here till May 30.      

The mission of the Eastern Regional Research Center (ERRC) is to develop fundamental knowledge and technology beneficial to the producers of agricultural commodities, handlers and processors of food and industrial products, Federal action and regulatory agencies and the consumer.
