DUSHANBE, May 27, Asia-Plus  — Celebrations to mark the 65th anniversary of the formation of Russia’s Motorized Rifle Division 201, currently deployed in Tajikistan, will be held in Tajikistan on May 31 and June 1, Asia-plus has learned from Pavel Konev, a spokesman for Russian Military Base 201 in Tajikistan. 

According to him, a festive concert dedicated to this important event will be held in Dushanbe on May 31.  The same day, demonstration firing will be conducted at the Lohour training grounds located some 20 kilometers southwest of Dushanbe.  

On June 1, exhibition performances with participation of paratroopers and servicemen of the group Antiterror will be held at the base’s headquarters in Dushanbe’s Giprozemgorodok area, the spokesman said.  

 Motorized Rifle Division 201 was formed in May-June 1943 by resolution of the Military Council of the Leningrad Front.  The division has been honored with the Order of the Red Banner twice.
