DUSHANBE, July 10, 2015, Asia-Plus — The Iranian Embassy in Dushanbe has organized an event to celebrate Al Quds Day.
The event is being held today evening at Tajikistan Hotel. Al Quds an annual event held on the last day of the holy month of Ramadan. This year, Al Quds is celebrated on July 10.
Al Quds Day (Jerusalem Day, Quds is the city”s Arabic name), officially called International Quds Day in Iran, is an annual event held on the last Friday of Ramadan that was initiated by the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1979 to express solidarity with the Palestinian people and oppose Zionism and Israel”s existence, as well as Israel”s control of Jerusalem. In Iran, the government sponsors and organizes the day”s rallies. Al Quds Day is also held in several countries in the Arab and Muslim world with protests against the Israeli occupation of East Jerusalem.
