Dushanbe. 24 August. “Asia Plus” — National Bank of Tajikistan explains somoni`s devaluation towards to the US dollar due to the decrease of the Kazakh tenge and the Russian ruble.

National Bank said that on 21 of August the average rate of the US dollar in the exchange offices of Tajikistan was set at 6,54-6,56 somoni for one dollar. At the same time, according to the source, the market rate of the dollar kept the tendency to increase and averaged 6.77-6.79 somoni for 1 US dollar.

National Bank sees the main factor of raising the cash dollar exchange rate in unstable situation of oil markets and currencies in the global market, the depreciation of national currencies of many countries towards the dollar, especially the Russian ruble and Kazakh tenge.

At the same time, the average rate on operations with the Russian ruble continues to decline. For today it has made 0,09-0,10 somoni per Russian ruble, and the euro slightly rose to $ 7.29-7.33 somoni for one euro.

Meanwhile, the majority of exchange offices in Dushanbe today refrain from selling the dollar in conditions of uncertainty, referring to the lack of US currency.

There are only some points where dollar can be bought at a higher rate: speculators in foreign currency ask 6.85 somoni for one dollar.

At the same time, Bloomberg predicts that the fall of the Kazakh tenge may negatively affect the currencies of Tajikistan. Swedish SEB predicts the declining of somoni by 10-20 percent.
