DUSHANBE, April 24, Asia-Plus  — The gold and foreign currency reserves held by the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) have to date amounted to $363 million, the NBT head Sharif Rahimzoda  announced at a press conference in Dushanbe on April 24. 

According to him, Tajikistan”s central bank has purchased some 100 kilograms of gold over the first quarter of this year; of them, 70 kilograms are kept in foreign banks.

In 2007, Tajikistan’s gold and foreign currency reserves amounted to $328 million, with $53 million (in gold and platinum) of them being kept in bank in Switzerland.
