DUSHANBE, October 26, 2015, Asia-Plus – The National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) has adopted a decision, under which the country’s commercial banks will have the right to set the cash exchange rate for the dollar themselves beginning on October 26.

According to statement posted on Tajik central bank’s website, they have adopted such a decision  taking into consideration stabilization of the situation in the country’s dollar cash exchange market and for the purpose of shifting to the system of a single exchange rate.

The lending agencies now have to set the dollar cash exchange rate themselves taking into consideration the situation in domestic currency market.  These actions should be conducted within the frameworks of Tajikistan’s legislation.

The NBT statement also notes that the situation in the country’s currency market and activities of lending agencies engaged in currency exchange will be under daily control of the NBT.

Using efficient measures to implement the monetary and credit policy, the National Bank of Tajikistan will continue regulating domestic currency market providing stable rate of the national currency, the statement said.
