President meets with senior power-wielding official to review anticrime efforts

DUSHANBE, April 1, Asia-Plus  — On Monday March 31, President Emomali Rahmon held a meeting with participation of senior police and security officials to discuss efforts to combat organized crime and drug trafficking in the country, according to presidential press service. 

During the meting, Interior Minister Mahmadnazar Solehov reported on a progress of investigation into cases of Tajik nationals suspected of having been involved in the murder of Russian TV reporter Ilyas Shurpayev in Moscow. 

Speaking at the meeting, the president ordered all relevant state agencies and ministries to report on efforts to combat organized crime and pointed to the necessity of observing legality and carrying out the spring conscription campaign on a high level.  

 Heads of the law enforcement agencies briefed the head of state on their agencies” efforts to combat and prosecute criminal cases connected with organized crime.
