SOCCENT commander visits Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, April 19, 2016, Asia-Plus — U.S. Army Major General Darsie D. Rogers, commander of Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT), visited Central Asia and participated in a series of meetings with senior U.S., Tajik, and Uzbek officials on issues of bilateral security cooperation and regional interest, according to the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe.

During his visit, Rogers met with Elisabeth Millard, U.S. Ambassador to Tajikistan and senior U.S. officials in Uzbekistan and discussed areas of continued military cooperation between the United States and the Central Asian States, including SOCCENT’s relationship with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan’s Special Operations Forces.

Rogers also met with senior military officials and underscored the importance of a continued partnership as well as SOCCENT’s support to stability and security in Central Asia.

Rogers comes to SOCCENT from his previous assignment as commander, U.S. Army Special Forces Command (Airborne) at Fort Bragg, N.C.

His previous Special Forces assignments include deputy commanding general, U.S. Army Special Operations Command and detachment, company, battalion, and group command in 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Fort Carson, Colo.  He also served as the commander, Joint Forces Special Operations Component Command, Iraq; United States Forces, Iraq; Operation New Dawn, Iraq; and as the deputy commanding general (Support), 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson. He deployed several times in support of Operations Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom and New Dawn.

The Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT) is a sub-unified command of the U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM).  It is responsible for planning special operations throughout the USCENTCOM area of responsibility (AOR), planning and conducting peacetime joint/combined special operations training exercises, and orchestrating command and control of peacetime and wartime special operations as directed.
