Tajprombank provides loans to cotton farmers in Khatlon’s Bokhtar district

DUSHANBE, February 29, Asia-Plus  — Tajprombank (Tajik industrial bank) has received the first tranche (2 million somonis) of a 5 million somonis loan from the government for providing loans to cotton farmers, Asia-Plus has learned at Tajprombank’s headquarters in Dushanbe.    

The source at the bank head office noted that Tajprombank is providing loans to cotton-growing farms in Khatlon’s Bokhtar District.  “The bank provides loans at 18 percent annual interest,” said the source, “We have to date spent some 80 percent of the tranche fro providing loans to cotton farmers in Bokhtar.” 

In all, Tajprombank is expected to receive 5 million somonis from the government for funding the Bokhtar cotton farmers.

Besides, the bank will fund cotton-growing farms in Khatlon’s Jilikul, Kulob, Vose, Hamadoni, Yovon and Farkhor districts on its own, the source said.  According to him, the bank has to date provided some 1.5 million somonis in loans to cotton farmers in the mentioned districts.

Established in 1995, closed joint-stock company (CJSC) Tajprombank is one of private banks in Tajikistan and operates 17 branches in Dushanbe, districts subordinate to the center (RRPs) as well as Sughd and Khatlon provinces.  The main shareholders of Tajprombank are mainly individuals with one principal shareholder, also CEO Mr. Ziyoyev.  As of January 1, 2008, Tajprombank’s regulative capital has amounted to 45.7519 million somonis (equivalent to $13.2534 million).     

We will recall that in all, 110 million somonis in loans are expected to be provided by the government to five banks for funding cotton-growing farms.  Besides Tajprombank, four other banks participate in this project. 

According to Tajik central bank, Orienbonk and Agroinvestbonk receive 35 million somonis each, Amonabonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank) receives 25 million somonis, and Tokjiksodirotbonk (TSB) receives 5 million somonis.
