Turkey sends 700 kilos of humanitarian aid to Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, February 21, Asia-Plus  — The government of Turkey has sent a bulk humanitarian aid to Tajikistan, which has been hit by a humanitarian crisis caused by extreme weather and severe electricity shortages. 

According to the Committee for Emergency Situations (CES), the assistance including more than 700 kilograms of foodstuffs arrived in Tajikistan Tuesday evening.

As it had been reported earlier,  transport aircraft A-300 with humanitarian aid provided by Saudi Arabia landed at the Dushanbe airport on February 19.  Several other transport planes with humanitarian aid from Saudi Arabia are expected to arrive in Dushanbe before March 2.  In all, Saudi Arabia will deliver 80 tons of foodstuffs to the country.  

Tuesday afternoon, a transport plane of Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) delivered 12 diesel generators to Tajikistan.  Another transport plane with four generators  and 168 heating facilities on board will land at the Dushanbe airport today.     

On February 17, 500 tons of Turkmen fuel oil arrived in Tajikistan.
