5,535 Tajik students study at universities abroad

DUSHANBE, January 12, Asia-Plus — In 2007, a special commission of the Ministry of Education (MoE) inspected 39 educational facilities across the country, Noilsho Nouraliyev, a spokesman for a MoE, said, adding that six educational facilities were certified conditionally and four others failed to qualify.  

On the training of specialists fro Tajikistan abroad, the spokesman said that from 1994 to 2007 the ministry sent 1,766 Tajiks to other countries to study at higher educational institutions.  

According to information from Tajik MoE and MFA, in 1994-2006 some 8,000 Tajik nationals went for studying to 38 countries.  

“According to the present official statistics, at present 5,535 Tajiks study at higher educational institutions in various foreign countries,” Nouraliyev said.  

In the meantime, 3,030 students from 23 countries now study at 25 higher educational and vocational-technical schools in Tajikistan, which 709 students more than in 2006.
