DUSHANBE, December 10, Asia-Plus – Visiting Foreign Minister of Iran Manouchehr Mottaki discussed on Monday major bilateral, regional and international developments with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon who is also visiting Turkmenistan, IRNA said.

Mottaki arrived in Ashgabat early Monday on a day-long visit to attend inaugural ceremony in Ashkhabad for the United Nations Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia.

The center aims to assist regional governments in working together to tackle common challenges such as terrorism, drug trafficking, organized crime and environmental degradation.

Mottaki is to address the ceremony.

The Iranian minister and President Rahmon discussed quadrilateral cooperation between Iran, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan and the Shanghai Organization.

The two also exchanged views on the issue of Iran”s membership to the organization.
