DUSHANBE, November 8, Asia-Plus  — Representatives from Azeri oil-and-gas production companies have been negotiating with Tajik energy authorities in Dushanbe establishment of wide-ranging cooperation in the oil-gas sector, Asia-Plus has learned at the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI).

The source at a MoEI said Azeri companies had taken interest in investing in Tajikistan’s oil-and-gas sector and providing the state-of-the-art technologies in the filed of oil well drilling and geological prospecting.

“It is still premature to speak about any specific results; most likely, experts from a number of Azeri oil-and-gas companies will arrive in the country soon to study opportunities of participation of their companies in concrete projects,” the source said, adding that it cannot be ruled out that some oil-and-gas fields in southwest Tajikistan will be given for exploration to the Azeri investors.

We will recall that during his visit to Azerbaijan in August this year, President Emomali Rahmon noted that Azerbaijan will send a group of experts to Tajikistan to prospect for oil.
