DUSHANBE, November 5, Asia-Plus  — Tajik interregional union entitled “Union of Tajiks of Russia” convened its constituent congress in Moscow today, Muhammad Egamzod, Press-Attaché, Tajik Embassy in Moscow, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

A decision on holding the congress was made at a meeting of heads of large regional Tajik public associations working in Moscow, Moscow region St. Petersburg, as well as Tver, Ryazan, Yaroslav and Leningrad regions that was held in Moscow in early October.  Members of a working group reported on a progress of work to make preparations for the congress and the Union’s charter.

The congress is aimed at uniting Tajik public associations working in the Russian Federation, Egamzod said.

The interregional union provides for promoting more active participation of Tajik Diasporas in public life of Russia and represent interest of ethnic Tajiks, living in the Russian Federation, in organs of state power and local government.  Combining efforts of the Tajik associations functioning in the Russian Federation, the union will be able to resolve more efficiently issues related to observance by Tajik nationals of Russian laws and protection of rights of Tajik labor migrants working in the Russian Federation.
