New Uzbek ambassador to Tajikistan arrives in Dushanbe

The newly-appointed Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Tajikistan, Ergash Shoismatov, has arrived in Dushanbe.  

Today, Shoismatov will visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan to hand over the copies of his credentials.

Ambassador Shoismatov is expected to take his duties as Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Tajikistan ahead of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s state visit to Tajikistan scheduled for early March.  

Ergash Shoismatov replaced Ambassador Shokasym Shoislamov who had served as Uzbek Ambassador to Tajikistan over the past 14 years.

According to some sources, Shokasym Shoislamov will work with Uzbek President’s Office in the sphere of foreign policy.   

Ergash Shoismatov was born in Tashkent in 1951.  He graduated from Tashkent Polytechnic Institute.

Prior to this Shoismatov has served as Chairman of the Board of Uztransgaz (Uzbek gas supply company) since December 2016.

From February 2014 to December 2016, he headed the Republic Council of Trade Union of Power Engineering Specialists of Uzbekistan

From April 2006 to July 13, 2010, Shoismatov served as Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan in charge of industry and mining.

From 2001 to 2006, he was Chairman of the Board of Joint-stock Company (JSC) Uzbekenergo.

From 1996 to February 2001, Shoismatov served as Minister Energy of Uzbekistan.
