DUSHANBE, October 2, Asia-Plus /Payrav Chorshanbiyev/ — The Dushanbe heat station is supposed to reopen in the second half of October, on completion of Muslim holy month of Ramadan, Asia-plus has learned from Rahmtullo Qalandarov, an engineer-in-chief with the heat plant.

According to him, if the plant receives the planned 230 million cubic meters of natural gas during the season it will generate more than 2 million kWh of electricity per day.  “This will allow meeting some 45 percent of city’s requirements in electricity,” the engineer-in-chief said, noting that the Dushanbe daily requirements in electrical power are 7-8 million kWh.

He further added that in case of being provided with fuel properly the Dushanbe heat plant is capable to produce some 700 gigacalories of heat, which is enough to provide 80 percent of the city’s territory with heat and hot water.

Qalandarov said that the Dushanbe heat plant to date has received some 27,000 tons of spare fuel – fuel oil and with last year’s reserves the Dushanbe heat plant now has some 32,000 tons of fuel oil.
