DUSHANBE, September 3, Asia-Plus — Dushanbe municipal authorities discussed preparations for celebrations dedicated to Tajikistan’s Independence Day, which is marked on September 9, at a September 3 meeting presided over by the capital mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev.

Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the capital mayor, said the main celebrations to mark the 16th anniversary of Tajikistan Independence Day will be organized at the Dushanbe hippodrome, where  horse-race will be held, and the Central Republican Stadium, where the gushtingiri (Tajik national wrestling) will be held, and  on the Dousti Square, where a gala concert with participation of known Tajik singers will be held.  

Relevant bodies have been charged to take adequate measure to maintain order in public places during the holiday, the spokesman said.   

The mayor also demanded at the meeting that a special attention should be paid to sanitary-epidemiological and fire-prevention situation as well providing the population the passenger transport services in the city.
