President Emomali Rahmon on Friday (May 24) congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his reelection, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

Tajik leader also congratulated the Bharatiya Janata Party (B.J.P.) on victory in Indian parliamentary elections.

In his message of congratulations, Emomali Rahmon, in particular, expressed hope that His Excellency Narendra Modi would take efforts in the future as well to promote further expansion of cooperation between India and Tajikistan.

Rahmon noted that he looked forward to continue constructive dialogue at all levels for the purpose of strengthening mutual support and political mutual trust between the two nations.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi won a sweeping mandate for a second five-year term and his Bharatiya Janata Party, or B.J.P., was ahead in about 299 parliamentary districts, far beyond the 272 seats it would need for a majority in the 543-seat Parliament.
